Always an avid hiker, I've painted and photographed many of my rambling through the forests of New York and New Jersey. At first, my photographs were just used as a reference and an inspiration for my landscape paintings - but later on I found a way to make my photographs bolder, with added texture and depth, and in some cases a bit more abstract. By added some creative touches with my computer and the use of various filters, I found a look I really enjoy. Still a freelance Art Director, I spend much of my spare time with my photography and work from my home studio in Woodcliff Lake, NJ. I hope you enjoy my landscapes.
About the Artist
Al Foti was born and raised in Brooklyn, NY, he graduated from the School of Industrial Art in Manhattan, and after four years in the U.S. Air Force attended Pratt Institute under the GI Bill. Al graduated Pratt with a degree in Advertising Design, and later studied publication design with Alexey Brodovitch at his Design Lab, in New York City. Al began his award winning career in publishing at LOOK magazine on Madison Avenue, and later went on to art direct many leading consumer, business, and medical magazines.
